From May 15, 2017, the piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo at the University of Milan – Bicocca welcomes an important work by Arnaldo Pomodoro. The large sculptural complex, recently exhibited in the Royal Square, during the anthological exhibition where Milan celebrated the Master’s 90th birthday, now finds its perfect setting in the square designed by Vittorio Gregotti.
The Pietrarubbia Group, the result of long term research started by the sculptor in 1975 and finished in 2015, is the perfect tribute to his birthplace, the ancient town of Pietrarubbia, in Montefeltro. The work comprises six elements: The Foundation and The Use (fixed and double blocks), The Relationship (two swinging and joining doors), the two panels of The Quotidian and the last two elements, The Absolutes, one dedicated to pain and the other to hope.
The installation was made possible thanks to a free use agreement between the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro and the University of Milan- Bicocca.
